That moment when you want a car so bad, and its so amazingly priced, but it sells before you get to it. I found a ‘98 K1500. Z71, Single Cab, Short Bed, 5.7 Vortec, and 99% rust free besides the tailgate. 130k on the clock. How much? $3500. I was all ready to drive like over an hour to go see it, and it sold this morning. Fuck.

Before I bought my TL a local dealer got a manual TSX for 5k. I put in an email that evening that I’ll be by tomorrow morning to see it and buy it. They called me that morning and said “sorry it’s gone, but i have a nice....to show you”

I agreed and buy a ‘95 manual 540i for the asking price (incredible deal) and arranged to pick it up. Took a day off, drove across the state of PA, cash in hand, 5 minutes before I got to the guy’s house I call him to let him know I’ll be there a little bit early, and he informed me that he sold it to someone else this morning.

We’ll just say I still finished my trip to his place and we had a nice chat.

What a wasted day off (for two of us) and two tanks of gas...

When I was shopping I found a 2002 Sierra. Z71. 5.3 Vortec. Crew/ext cab(can’t remember). 4x4. MANUAL. And it turned out already sold, the guy hadn’t taken the ad down.

I once saw a first-gen MR2 for sale for $600. I was hesitant at first because I thought it was a scam (which it turned out not to be). It was sold, but the ad was still up. :(

Damn, that sucks. I remember finding an AW11 for $500 (!). It was beat to hell, but still. Would’ve loved to have it if I had space.

At this point, I’m itching for a project vehicle. Never had one before, so I want something that would be manageable.

I definitely understand you there. The idea has always appealed to me, its just that I have nowhere to work on/store it. And I already have two cars, so a third would be a hard sell.

I hear you. Right now we’re house-sitting, and I have access to a garage (although it’ll only fit one car, with all the other junk that’s in there). No need to park in it during the summer, though, which makes it available to be occupied by a project vehicle.
